I know love, I know – you realize you’re here for a purpose and that you life needs to have meant something before your particular clock stops ticking.
Morbid? Nah. Just life, we’re born, we live, and at some point, our number is up.
But that “we live” piece…
That’s where we choose to create something that matters.
Where we can create a business that creates lasting impact.
When and where we can build a company that’s not only profitable, but that cares.
But how? I mean seriously…
Between the social media fights du jour…
All of the people trying to tell you their way is the only way…
And the entire VOLUMES of opinion and diatribes you have at your fingertips since 2020 was well…
Hindsight that was anything BUT your typical rose colored glasses…
How the hell does one get anything done?
Let alone anything that actually MATTERS in this world, and in particular, through a business to boot.
First, recognize your mission on this planet, and what piece your business plays in that mission, and then treat it like it’s the most precious and important thing ever…
Because it IS.
If you were put here for a specific purpose (head’s up – you were) and your business is a huge part, quite possibly THE part, the avenue, the path which gets you to fulfilling it faster…
Treat it like that absolute treasure that it is – and start taking it seriously enough to do the actual work required to run it.
That’s what I had to do, and let me tell you, there are no 5 quick hacks to this piece. Do the work. Deliver.
Next, and this one gets people’s hackles up, but I’m going to tell you, as someone who’s built their business in pockets of time with a special needs son and homeschooling/unschooling when my kids were little, it’s NO JOKE – capitalize on the small pockets of time.
I know, I know, I know… every productivity expert has said to batch your time. And hey, I’m all for it when you have the larger portions of time to do so…
But when you don’t – hammer out a blog post in the notes of your phone while in line, create a graphic while zoning out on that boring webinar you thought you HAD to go to (I mean, if you’re zoning out anyway, may as well be productive about it).
Next – Set a Timer – or a time limit – for everything – especially important if you’re a neurodiverse business owner!
Play beat the clock as often as possible.
I actually started the draft for this while waiting for a video from our call today to finish converting for my program Unstoppable Brands. I may or may not beat the clock, but there’s zero time wasted here.
Also, don’t mindlessly scroll on anything, anywhere.
Look, I’m all for rabbit holes that pique my curiosity, cultivate my creativity, feed my mind and soul – but they come after the work is done – not before.
Lastly – trust yourself, back yourself, invest in yourself – when it feels the most right – even if it feels the most scary for a minute.
You’ll know both intellectually and within your body if the feeling your feeling is because you hadn’t invested at that level before – or if it’s because it will put you out in the streets.
The former – if all else points to go – is where you know you’re still safe to pull the trigger on things.
The latter means do what you need to do in order to keep you and your family fed and a roof over your head and then BUILD your business from there… whatever that looks like for you.
This includes your money AND your time.
Whatever you decide to do – take this advice above to heart – and remember…
– Your dreams can’t wait any longer.
– You were built to show up and serve in a way that creates an impact.
– Your people are waiting for you.
