Why You May Be Feeling Apathetic Towards Creating Content
If you’re feeling apathetic towards creating content – there could be a few reasons why:
The ones you think are why…
And the ones that are REALLY why.
The reasons you think are why:
Holding back, not saying what you mean, dousing your passionate flame, dimming your light…
^^^For example
The REAL reason why:
Guilt, shame, fear – who in your life (or audience) are you scared you’re going to piss off, lose, or trigger into THEIR patterns of causing conflict when you’re being your fully expressed self.
Another thing is:
You’re either thinking you have to say what people will want to hear instead of what you know your message is…
And/or you’ve started to feel like you’re running out of things to say, because you’ve been saying them and aren’t a fan of repeating yourself…
So you’re not apathetic towards it as much as you’ve gotten bored with saying the same things in the same ways.
If you’ve been creating content for a while now…
You may even be not-so-blissfully-unaware of the treasure trove of content you’ve already created.
And here’s the unfiltered, no-holds-barred truth of the matter:
If you have a business that you want to continue to see flourish, you really do need to be creating content for it.
Yes still.
Yes now.
Even and especially now.
There are some glimmers of hope here though!
You get to work smarter not harder!
There are a few things I recommend to my clients time and time again to help them keep content ready to go at their fingertips when they need it, that I want to share with you right here, right now.
>Create when inspired, passion-fueled, in the flow, and on a roll!
Even if it’s just the title. Or a few bullet points.
It can be an outline if you’ve got one in mind, but it’s not required, so don’t let that stop you.
You can jot down your first initial thoughts and come back and flesh it out if you’re short on time, so don’t let time be your excuse here mmmkay?!
>Have somewhere to put it all.
For the longest time I had so many things scattered in so many different places. We’re talking sticky notes here, 50 notebooks there, back of envelopes long since lost bad…
Until my designer created this amazing tool, and I haven’t shut up about it since then!
I’m an affiliate for it, but seriously, from the depths of my soul, I would still be shouting it from the rooftops even if she didn’t have that option available.
I’ve loved it so much I’ve offered it as bonuses for my courses!
I can filter content by programs I’m offering, I can put my images in there, I can plan things in different views to work with my ADHD brain… it’s heaven!
And, it makes creating content FUN again for me, and for my clients!
Plus, you can customize it as you need to fit your needs, and since my whole thing is doing things in a way that works for you, that tickles my fancy completely.
It also makes things SUPER easy to find for this next part (which finding things is important for the following step).
>Repurpose what you’ve already got!!!!!!
Can I tell you a secret? This blog post is actually an expanded repurpose of a social media post I’d done a little while back.
Yep, the cat’s out of the bag.
And I’m NO stranger to repurposing.
I’ve actually done it for YEARS.
I started that in 2007 when I had my very FIRST podcast (some of y’all may remember the Rawkin’ Rawtism podcast if you’ve been with me since back in the day here online).
But now, because I work in my genius and I align myself with those working in theirs…
I also have this completely helpful, totally amazing resource to help with repurposing as well!
Told you my friend and designer is a genius!
But this is what I know to be true…
What we think is holding us back from creating content…
Is rarely the thing actually holding us back from creating content.
And content is king in the lifeblood of getting your brand seen by more people, of having them fall in love with it, and becoming completely enraptured with the good work you do in the world…
So getting through that and onto putting it out there is where it’s at.
Want to make your life easier, check out the resources I mentioned above, and at the very least, put what I’ve listed here into action, so you can move that content needle forward.
Cheers to working smarter and not harder!
Xoxo,
Sunshine
